TEXAS LYCEUM DIRECTOR APPOINTED TO STATE BAR BOARD
Tim Belton one of five non-lawyers invited to serve SBOT
(HOUSTON) Texas Lyceum Vice President Timothy D. Belton was recently named to serve on the 2009 -2010 State Bar of Texas Board of Directors as one of six public members of the 46 member board. The Lyceum is pleased with the continued support its Directors provide our communities across the state.
“Tim’s appointment to the State Bar Board of Directors is great news, not just for Texas lawyers, but for the whole state,” said Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Willet. “As a member of both the Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Lyceum, I am doubly proud – proud that my board appointed this smart, principled business leader and proud that the Lyceum continues to cultivate this kind of civic-mindedness in its members.”
“This is an incredible opportunity to serve our state by bringing a public perspective to the work of the State Bar of Texas,” said Belton. “I look forward to working with the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors to help the Bar meet the challenges faced by the legal profession across our state.”
Belton has served as a Director of the Texas Lyceum since 2007 and on its Executive Committee since 2008. He is a seasoned corporate turnaround and restructuring professional based in Houston, and is also the founder and President of the Board of the Business Ethics Forum, a 501(c)3 that offers business executives a framework in which to forge ethical management solutions. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in 1988 and his M.B.A. from Harvard School of Business in 1994.
